THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University baseball team will host Lamar University in a three-game series on Ben Meyer Diamond at Ray E. Didier Field on April 10-12.
First pitch on Friday and Saturday is scheduled for 6 p.m. while the series finale will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. All of the action will be live streamed via ESPN+. Friday night is Pink Out theme as we have teamed up with Thibodaux Regional Health Systems to support Cancer Awareness. Saturday night is Aloha Night while Sunday's game will have a Pro Wrestling theme.
Nicholls (16-17, 8-9 SLC) enters the weekend on a two-game winning streak after taking the final two games of a road series against Houston Christian. The Colonels combined for 21 runs to secure the series against the Huskies.
The Red & Gray offense is spearheaded by
Caston Thompson who leads the team in batting average (.336), hits (41), RBI (28), runs (25) home runs (10).
Keegan Giger has 35 hits and 27 RBI while
Carter Jenkins and
Greyson Shafer have 29 hits and combined for 35 RBI.
On the mound the Colonels have a cumulative ERA of 4.80 and 302 strikeouts.
Haden Luke (4.15 ERA) has five victories and 47 strikeouts while
Nuno Parache (4.10 ERA) has 34 strikeouts in 37.1 innings of work.
Lamar (18-15, 10-5 SLC) lost four games last week before getting back on track with a 9-5 victory over Tulane earlier this week. The Cardinals took two of three in their last SLC series against UIW in late March.
The Cardinals offense is led by Tab Tracy (.336) who has 42 hits, 20 RBI and has scored 20 times. Beau Durbin (.283) has a team high 28 runs and 23 RBI while A.J. Taylor (.288) has scored the second most runs (25).
