MOBILE, Ala. – The Nicholls State University women's tennis team came up scoreless for the first time this season as the Colonels were handed a 7-0 loss by South Alabama on Sunday afternoon.
The loss dropped the Colonels' record to 2-4 on the season, while South Alabama improved to 5-3.
Nicholls lost the doubles point, falling in the No. 1 and 2 match.
Stephanie Barnett and
Ambika Pande were defeated 6-4 at No. 1, and
Clemence Krug and
Isla Brock fell 6-3.
In singles, Barnett suffered her first loss of the year as she was defeated by Alexandria Stiteler, 7-6, 6-1 at No. 1. The Colonels lost matches 3 through 6 in straight sets, but
Milou Pietersz was able to extend her mach into three sets as she fell 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.
The Colonels will return to action on Feb. 26 and 27 as they take on Georgia Southern and Jacksonville State in Statesboro, Ga.
