FRISCO, Texas - Five Nicholls State University women's tennis student-athletes were named all-academic on Monday as the Southland Conference announced its 2026 Women's Tennis All-Academic Team.
The five Colonels recognized were
Julia Bordignon,
Aada Inna,
Blanca Losada,
Noemie Piquet, and
Paulina Villegas.
Bordignon posted a perfect 4.0 grade-point average as a business administration major. On the court, she had a winning record in doubles at 10-9 while securing six wins in singles.
Inna registered a 3.92 GPA in psychology. In singles, she had seven wins playing at No. 2 in the lineup. For doubles, she had a stellar season, going 11-6 at No. 1 which included a 6-3 mark in conference. Inna paired up with Villegas, who was also named all-academic as a psychology major with a 3.54 GPA. Villegas also played on the top line in singles where she won six matches.
Losada and Piquet teamed up for six wins at No. 2 doubles. Losada, a marketing major with a 3.63 GPA, won seven singles matches which included three conference wins. Piquet, who had a 3.97 GPA in finance, secured eight victories in singles at No. 3.
To be eligible for all-academic distinction, an athlete must hold a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average through the semester prior to the sport's championship, completed at least one full academic semester at the nominating school prior to the current season, and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions during the most recently completed season. Student-Athlete of the Year nominees must have held at least a 3.50 GPA and have completed at least one semester of athletic competition at the nominating school, including the current season.
