THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's soccer team will look to stay perfect as the squad leaves the confines of the Nicholls Soccer Complex for battles against ULM and Grambling.
The Colonels (2-0) got off to a hot start with consecutive victories over Louisiana-Lafayette and Southern, but the team will face its first road challenge over the weekend. Nicholls is set for a 4 p.m. matchup with the Warhawks (1-2-1) on Friday in Monroe. The team will then head to Grambling for a 1 p.m. date with the Tigers (0-1) on Sunday.
Louisiana-Monroe opened the year with a 2-1 victory in an exhibition against Lamar. The Warhawks opened the regular season with a 2-0 loss at the hands of No. 19 South Florida, before earning a 4-0 victory over Mississippi Valley State. ULM dropped a 1-0 decision to Southern Miss on Friday, before tying Southeastern La. in a scoreless match on Sunday.
Grambling is coming off of a difficult 9-0 loss to Louisiana Tech in the squad's only action of the season.

Mac McBride, the Colonels have utilized a balanced offensive attack, scoring 11 goals while surrendering just one. Senior
Jess Coates spearheads the Nicholls offense with three goals and an assist. Coates' hat-trick performance against Southern on Sunday earned her Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week Honors.
Emily Werenskiold and
Hannah Savoie have each contributed three assists to pace the squad. Freshman
Roosa Hurmerinta has been virtually impenetrable in the net, facing 15 shots, while allowing just one goal.
Nicholls returns to the Thibodaux on Sept. 11, for a 1 p.m. date with Louisiana Tech.
