NEW ORLEANS – The Nicholls State University women's tennis team picked up its first win of the season in an impressive fashion as the Colonels defeated NAIA Loyola University New Orleans, 7-0, Saturday afternoon.
 
With the win, the Colonels even their record to 1-1 on the season. Loyola drops to 1-4 after the setback.
 
Nicholls won all six singles matches in straight sets and allowed a combined five points in doubles action. The most dominating performance of the day came from 
Andrea Mastrippolito who earned a shutout on the No. 6 court.
 
Mastrippolito also clinched the doubles point for Nicholls as she paired up with 
Ambika Pande for a 6-2 victory on the No. 3 court. 
Mariia Kozachok and 
Changwei Wei gave Nicholls its first win of the day by taking the No. 1 court, 6-2. 
Lingfeng Gu and 
Clemence Krug also won by a score of 6-2.
 
In singles, Kozachok made quick work of Margaret Adams at No. 4 with a pair of 6-1 victories to secure the first singles point. Pande and Gu also won by the same scores on the No. 3 and 1 courts, respectively, to give Nicholls the team win.
