NACOGDOCHES, Texas – After recording a huge victory at home against rival Southeastern Louisiana earlier in the week, the Nicholls State University women's tennis team was unable to carry that momentum on the road as the Colonels fell to Stephen F. Austin, 6-1, on Saturday.
Clemence Krug came away victorious for the Colonels (6-3, 1-2 SLC) in singles play with a straight-set win at No. 2 over Vanesa Pardo. SFA (5-6, 1-2 SLC) won four of the singles matches in straight sets, with the only three-setter coming against
Mariia Kozachok. Heading into the day on a seven-match winning streak, Kozachok came up short against Gabi Guilarte, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
The Ladyjacks dominated doubles play to take an early 1-0 lead. SFA won courts 1 and 3 via shutouts to secure the point before going on to win five of the six singles matches.
