MATCH RESULTS
HAMMOND, La. – The Nicholls State University women's tennis team received wins in singles from
Stephanie Barnett and
Anastasia Kuzevanova, but the victories would be all the team came away with as the Colonels dropped their second-straight conference match with a 5-2 loss at Southeastern Louisiana.
At 8-5 overall and 1-3 in the Southland, the Colonels will look to continue their strong play at home in the next three matches where they are 6-2 this season.
Two of the three doubles matches came down to the wire, except for a 6-1 win on court 2 by the Lady Lions (4-7, 1-2 SLC). At the No. 1 line, Barnett and Gu nearly picked up the win but were ousted, 7-5. Kuzevanova and
Changwei Wei were tied at 5-all at No. 3 when the point was clinched.
SLU went on to take the match after winning courts 4, 5 and 2 in straight sets. Barnett prevented the shutout with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Madina Vorotnikova. After Wei dropped her match at 5, Kuzevanova outlasted Jiva de Veer at the No. 6 line, 6-3, 7-6 (10-6).
