Final Stats MATCH RESULTS
LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Nicholls State University women's tennis team played its final road match of the season and was defeated, 7-0, against McNeese Sunday afternoon at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center.
The loss dropped the Colonels to 11-10 overall and 2-8 in the Southland. McNeese clinched a share of the regular season title, finishing the season 10-1 in league play and 15-3 overall.
The Cowgirls cruised in the victory, sweeping doubles and only one singles match went three sets.
Stephanie Barnett won the first set at No. 1 against Giovanna Fioretti, but Fioretti took the second before outlasting Barnett in the tiebreaker, 12-10. Barnett and
Lingfeng Gu were tied at 4-4 in No. 1 doubles; however, McNeese clinched the point with 6-2 wins at 2 and 3.
Nicholls had just two four-point sets in the other singles matches, and Cowgirl Phonexay Chitdara picked up a shutout on Court 6.

Nicholls will close out the regular season with a home match against Sam Houston State on Saturday, April 21. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
