GREENWOOD, Ind. -- The College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) released the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District Baseball teams late Thursday morning, naming Nicholls State University sophomore Dane Simon as one of three outfielders on the District Six first team. Per the official CoSIDA release, the eight all-district teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Throughout this season's campaign, Simon has served as an integral member of the Colonels' offensive production, primarily batting near the middle of the order with a .293 average and a team-best .410 on-base percentage. Thus far, the sophomore has posted 25 RBIs, including a key insurance run late in Tuesday evening's 5-3 victory over Tulane, on 49 hits with a team-high 38 runs scored.

Of the 12 selections for the District Six first team, a region composed of nine states stretching from Louisiana to Minnesota, Simon clocked in as the lone sophomore, and will advance with all other first-team honorees to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, set for release in June.
