THIBODAUX, La. - Nicholls State University head women's soccer coach Robert Podeyn announced the signing of four additional new players for 2022, bringing the total to 15 for the signing class.

"I believe these four young ladies add to an already strong recruiting class," Podeyn said. "These additions strengthen our team and will help to establish us as a competitive program in the Southland Conference with an ambition of competing to win."

The four new additions include one spring transfer and three incoming freshmen for the fall.  The new additions are:

Megan Cook (Viera, Fla.) - 5'6" - Goalkeeper


Megan comes to Nicholls State University after redshirting her freshman year at Coastal Carolina.  She was a four-year varsity starting goalkeeper for Viera High School in Florida where she also played for Orlando City ECNL.  

"Megan is an accomplished goalkeeper who has played at a very high level," Podeyn said. "She just completed her freshman year at a very good Coastal Carolina where she was a redshirt freshman.  Megan will come in to compete and push our current goalkeepers while also strengthening this position.  She will still have four years to play, so she will be considered a freshman.  We are excited about Megan and what she will bring the next four years."

 Megan will begin at Nicholls this spring as a transfer.  


Jaden Jeter (Bullard, Texas) - 5'2" - Defender/Midfielder

Jaden comes to Nicholls as a freshman after a successful high school and club career at Bullard High School and FC Dallas ETX where she was a starting holding midfielder and wing defender.  She earned all-state second team in her junior year of high school and is currently in her senior year.  

"Jeter is a fun player to watch. She has very good pace, is physical in challenges, is a strong technical player, and has an insatiable desire to win and play the game," Coach Podeyn said. "Jeter has excelled at every level of the game and we are excited to see her play here as a Colonel the next four years."

Jaden will enter Nicholls State University in August as a freshman.


Faith Walton (Denham Springs, Louisiana) - 5'3" - Attacking Midfielder/ Wing Attacker


Faith comes to Nicholls State as a Freshman after a successful high school and club career at Walker High School and BRSC (Baton Rouge) where she was a starting attacking player.  Jaden earned 2ndTeam All-State Honors her junior year and is currently in the middle of her senior year at Walker High School.  "Faith is a fast and dynamic attacking player who can score goals.  Her pace makes her dangerous in going at defenders 1v1, and her ability to control the ball under pressure creates attacking options for others.  Faith will be an exciting player to watch her next four years at Nicholls State University," Said Coach Podeyn.  Faith will enter Nicholls State University in August as a Freshman.


Ophelia Jones (Stockholm, Sweden) - 5'9" - Attacking Central Midfielder

Ophelia comes to Nicholls State University after successfully playing at the highest levels in Sweden for one of the top club teams called Alvjso AIK.  AIK would normally compete against the top players and teams in the country and Ophelia was recognized as her team's MVP in 2020 while playing for National Team Assistant Coach Simon Olsson. 

"Ophelia has an incredible background in the game with her dad being a former professional player for more than a decade," Podeyn said. "Ophelia has the best vision I have seen in a player in a long time and is dangerous in attacking from withdrawn positions.  She will be a player who will make an immediate impact on our team and in our conference over the next four years."

Ophelia will enter Nicholls State University as a freshman in August.
