THIBODAUX, La. -- After enduring tough back-to-back Southland road series over the course of the past fortnight, the Nicholls State University baseball program (16-23, 11-13 SLC) finally returns to the friendly confines of Ray E. Didier Field for a key a league clash against visiting UIW (14-23, 10-18 SLC), playing host to the Cardinals from Friday, Apr. 30 through Sunday, May 2 across a four-game weekend set.

• The Colonels are projected to finish ninth in the Southland Conference, per the league's preseason poll.
• Nicholls returns six players from last year's batting order (Dane Simon, Xane Washington, Alex Galy, Erick Hernandez, Dillon Belle & Alec Paz) along with three starting pitchers (Trever Kilcrease, Nick Heckman and Tyler Theriot) and three primary relievers (Joe Taylor, Peter Holland & Beau Balado).
